<description>Some memories stay with us forever, even when the years fly by. I recently found my old school leaving book, filled with hundreds of handwritten signatures and messages from the people I grew up with. Looking through those pages took me straight back to a time when we had no idea how quickly life would move on, how much we would change, or how different our paths would become. That little book inspired me to write this song a reflection on the past, the people who were once part of our everyday lives, and those moments we never realise are precious until they’re gone. “Signatures from the Past” is the second song from my upcoming album, which will be released soon. The song is available to listen to now, and I hope it brings back a few memories of your own. Think about the people who signed your leaving book, the friends you thought you’d know forever, and the moments you wish you could step back into just one more time. Because sometimes, all it takes is a name written on an old page to bring an entire chapter of your life flooding back. Thank you for listening and supporting my music. Aemreh Elyra — Signatures from the Past. Remember who you are. 🖤 LYRICS I still remember her like it was yesterday The girl who walked through those rooms with her name still whole They wrote their names and I knew them like they would always stay Now the years have moved and the handwriting is smaller than I remember I miss the girl who didn’t know how fast it would all go I walk past the old places and the dark follows but it walks behind me It knows the shape of the one who left I do not turn I do not answer The names can stay where I left them What I carry is the girl and the people and the years that didn’t stay I still see her like she still knows me The girl I was the girl I was She knows my name but she cannot stay Explore the bittersweet nature of a school leaving book and the fleeting moments of youth captured in handwritten messages. This atmospheric piece reflects on the final days of school, where uniforms, diaries, and farewells to friends like Emma mark the end of an era. By observing the intimacy of handwritten messages, we examine how these simple tokens serve as a bridge to a time before life paths diverged. It is a quiet study of the artifacts we hold onto when we realise that a chapter of our lives is drawing to a close. This nostalgic music video pairs these visual memories with a reflection on how quickly time moves. We focus on the deliberate nature of these transitions, treating the diary entries as a primary source for understanding how we anchor our collective history. Through this lens, we can better appreciate the weight of the goodbyes that often go unsaid until the final bell rings.
